Michie Stadium is located at West Point, the United States Military Academy, and it offers a unique and memorable game day experience. However, parking can be a challenge, so it's important to plan ahead and follow our guide to make your visit as smooth as possible.
If you're coming from New York City, the best route to Michie Stadium is to head north on the George Washington Bridge and take I-95 South. Cross the bridge via the upper deck to avoid tolls. Stay in the right lane and immediately after crossing the bridge, take the exit to Palisades Interstate Parkway. The approximate driving time from midtown, with light traffic, is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
If you're flying into New York, the closest airports are Laguardia and John F. Kennedy International Airport. From Laguardia, the approximate driving time is 1 hour and 30 minutes with light traffic, while from JFK it's about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
If you're coming from the north, take I-87 South (NYS Thruway) and exit at 16 Harriman. Follow Route 6 East and Route 293 East, then merge left onto Route 218 toward Washington Gate. Take Route 9W South toward Stony Lonesome Gate (Red pass) or Thayer Gate (Green pass) depending on your parking pass color.
If you're coming from the south, take I-87 North and follow the same directions as above from Exit 16 Harriman. Merge onto Route 218 toward Washington Gate and take Route 9W South toward Stony Lonesome Gate or Thayer Gate.
If you're coming from the southeast, take I-287 West across the Tappan Zee Bridge and follow the directions from Exit 13N Palisades Parkway North. Bear in mind that green and red passes enter through Thayer Gate, while white/blue/gold passes enter through Washington Gate.
If you're coming from the west, take Route 17 East and exit at 130A Harriman. Follow Route 6 East and Route 293 East, then merge onto Route 218 toward Washington Gate. Take Route 9W South toward Stony Lonesome Gate or Thayer Gate.
Parking at Michie Stadium requires a parking pass. There are different colors for each gate of entry:
General parking passes are available for purchase through Army West Point Athletics upon checkout when buying tickets. However, if you didn't purchase tickets through Army West Point Athletics, please enter through the Washington Gate. ADA parking is only available via Stony Lonesome Gate, and make sure your ADA placard is visible upon entry.
During the 2023 football season, parking shuttles will be provided from designated parking lots to Michie Stadium. The shuttles will run both pregame and postgame, ensuring convenient transportation for fans. Make sure to check the shuttle route color that corresponds to your parking location to facilitate your return to your parked vehicle after the game.
For guests requiring handicapped parking, H Lot is available. Handicapped parking accommodations are located in H Lot, and a valid handicapped license plate or state registration handicapped parking pass is required for entrance. Enter through the Stony Lonesome Gate to access the handicapped seating and parking. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please call the Army ticket office at 1-877-TIX-ARMY (849-2769).
Tailgating at Michie Stadium is a popular tradition among Army football fans. However, tailgating is confined to a small area around your vehicle, and traffic lanes and adjacent parking spaces must not be blocked at any time. Saving parking spots is prohibited, so make sure to arrive early if you plan on tailgating.
It's important to note that parking spaces are limited, so it's recommended to arrive at least six hours prior to kickoff. Additionally, enhanced security measures are in effect at West Point Stadium access points for all home football games. All fans aged 17 and older must present a valid US-issued ID, license, or passport to enter West Point.
We hope this Michie Stadium parking guide helps you navigate the parking process and enjoy your visit to watch an Army football game or another event. Remember to plan ahead, arrive early, and follow the designated parking passes and shuttle routes. Michie Stadium offers a unique game day experience, and with proper preparation, your experience will be smooth and enjoyable. Go Army!
