The BIG News: Welcome to Centennial Village!
Okay, let's start with the most exciting update to campus housing in, well, a LONG time: Centennial Village. If you're an incoming freshman, this is where you'll most likely be calling home. The university is in the middle of a massive housing transformation, & Centennial Village is the star of the show. It’s replacing the old-school freshman towers, Hecht & Stanford, & it’s a total game-changer.
This isn’t just a dorm; it’s a massive, 522,000-square-foot lakefront community specifically designed for first-year students. We're talking five brand-new residential colleges with around 2,025 beds. The whole concept is built around what the university calls a "living-learning" environment. The goal is to make your dorm more than just a place to sleep. It's designed to help you connect with other students, get extra support from faculty, & really dive into the whole college experience from day one.
What's the Vibe at Centennial Village?
Since it’s so new, the "vibe" is still taking shape, but here’s what we know for sure: it’s designed to be SUPER social & supportive. The whole layout is meant to encourage you to get out of your room & meet people. Each of the five residential colleges will have its own unique identity, but they’re all part of the larger Centennial Village community.
Here are some of the key features of Centennial Village:
- Modern Rooms: Say goodbye to the traditional, cramped dorm rooms of the past. Centennial Village offers a mix of double & single rooms, which is a huge plus. The bathrooms are centrally located & private, which is a major upgrade from the communal bathrooms of old.
- Living-Learning Community: This is a big one. Each residential college has live-in faculty members who are there to help you navigate your first year. There are also classrooms, conference rooms, & study spaces right in the building, so you can roll out of bed & right into a study session.
- AMAZING Amenities: We’re talking lounges for gaming & recreation, meditation & reflection rooms, music practice rooms, & a brand new 600-seat dining facility. The whole village is also built around Lake Osceola, so you’ll have some pretty incredible outdoor spaces to enjoy.

If you’re looking for a dorm that’s always buzzing with energy, Pearson is the place to be. It’s known for being one of the more socially active dorms on campus. It’s located near the main entrance of the Coral Gables campus, so you’re right in the heart of the action.
- Suite-Style Living: Pearson is set up in a suite style, which means two double rooms are connected by a shared bathroom. This means you’re only sharing a bathroom with three other people, which is a pretty sweet deal.

Opened in 2020, Lakeside Village is nothing short of STUNNING. It’s more like a modern resort than a traditional dorm. It’s located on the shores of Lake Osceola & offers a living experience that’s unlike any other.

University Village, or "UV" as it’s known, offers a more independent living experience that’s still connected to campus life. It’s a great option for juniors & seniors who want the feel of an off-campus apartment with the convenience & support of on-campus housing.
- Fully Furnished Apartments: The apartments in the UV come fully furnished with a kitchen, a washer & dryer, & a living/dining room. It’s everything you need to live comfortably on your own.
- Your Own Space: The UV offers a variety of apartment models, from one-bedroom/one-bath to four-bedroom/four-bath. You can choose the layout that works best for you & your friends.
- Parking & Convenience: One of the biggest perks of the UV is that you can have a car. There are two parking garages, so you can buy a permit & have your car right there.
